Like the pearls, you are beautiful, pure and completely unique. These words, written by Marek, were given to Kristi the morning of their wedding along with the earrings he had specifically picked out for her. And much like the pearls, Kristi & Marek’s day can also be described as beautiful, pure, and completely unique.

I still remember their day vividly, the sky was threatening rain. And rain it did, just as Kristi arrived to her beautiful outdoor ceremony. Thankfully, their amazing wedding planner, Jordan, had a backup plan. Like the troopers they already are, Kristi & Marek didn’t let the rain put a damper on their amazing day. Instead, they laughed about their luck, and embraced the idea of having their wedding at the ever so unique Mercer Warehouse. During the ceremony, the rain slowed to a drizzle. And by the time Kristi & Marek were ready for some picture taking with their bridal party, the sun was shining full force.

Kristi & Marek, much like your wedding day, you two are one of a kind to me. I fail to find words to describe how appreciative and honoured I am to have joined you on such a personal and intimate day. You both are genuine and sincere, warm and kind. You deserve all the goodness that comes your way. And just like your wedding day, the sun will always shine for people who so freely give their warmth to everyone around them.

A picture is worth a thousand words. I know, it’s cliche. But as I sit here going through Sindhu and David’s wedding photos, I find myself reliving their day all over again. It’s amazing how photos have the ability to do that. Bring back feelings that are so fleeting that you once thought will never be felt again. I find myself laughing out loud over certain photos taken at their weddings (their bridal party was an absolute hoot). Then there are parts where I am in complete awe of Sindhu’s beauty and that incredible smile of hers. And finally, every time I see a photo of David being emotional, I too find myself tearing up a bit. Truly, a photo is worth a thousand words.

What I love and admire most about Sindhu and David is how uninhibited they are. They laugh out loud, let their emotions flow freely, dance wildly, love wholeheartedly. And you can tell by how much their friends and families love them.  If you are ever so lucky to meet them and be around them, you too will love them immediately as I have! And just when you thought these two can’t get any awesomer (yes I know that’s not a word), they do. Sinhu and David did a spoof of the 80s hit “Hello” by Lionel Richie. Sindhu and David, from the bottom of my heart, thank you! I feel incredibly honoured to have been a part of your amazing day! Here’s wishing you a lifetime happiness to a couple who so freely give their love to all those around them.

When I think back to Louise and RC’s wedding day, so many wonderful things come to my mind. The abundance of glorious details everywhere (Louise did not spare anything, if it could be a detail, it was a detail), all the sentimental and emotional moments during the speeches (yes, I cried), the crazy wind and cold the bridal party had the endure during the photoshoot, the extent to which Louise and RC would go to “get the shot”, the list just goes on and on. Just take my word, it was an amazing amazing AMAZING day (minus the wind).

I don’t know what it is specifically about Louise and RC that makes me love them so much and feel immediately comfortable with them. Could be how warm they are to all those around them, could be because they’re both nurses and in some weird ways, nurses just get each other. Or, it could just be because I admire the love, commitment, and utmost respect they have for each other. Just thinking about it, makes me a little emotional. I’m a sap, I know.  But whatever it is, I’m just oh so grateful and appreciative they have chosen me to be their wedding photographer.

Louise and RC, thank you for being so patient and understanding. Thank you for throwing this amazing party that made me and my camera fall in love shot after shot.  Most of all, thank you for being you.

Engagement sessions are one of my most favourite things to shoot. Don’t get me wrong, I love love looovve shooting weddings too! Hands down, nothing beats all the gorgeousness and magical moments of a wedding day.  But what’s really nice about an engagement session is the lack of a tight schedule that usually comes with a wedding day. With all the extra time we get during an engagement session , this usually means we can hit a couple spots in town, explore a little, and try a new pose or two. But of course, nothing is possible without the willingness and trust from my amazing clients. And amazing they were! Mandy and Ajit, thank you for letting me unleash some of my creative ideas on you (no matter how weird they seem). I really appreciated you taking the time out to spend the morning with me despite what you were going through. Many thanks, Sharon.

There is nothing better than starting the new year with a beautiful wedding here on the Sharon Litchfield Photography blog! I have been so fortunate to have witnessed and documented many GORGEOUS weddings in 2012. And Krista and Scott’s wedding was no exception. Their amazing wedding was designed and coordinated by wedding planner extraordinaire Jennifer Bergman.  Everything from the venues, to the flowers, to Krista’s dress, to the decor at the reception was completely out of this world beautiful. Not to mention Krista herself, she most definitely made one STUNNING bride.

When it’s not -27 with blowing snow outside, Edmonton can be quite the beautiful city. Back in the fall, I had an amazing evening galavanting around campus with Melissa and Jason (aka Kevin, long story ). The pretty sunset light and the variety of lush foliage provided some awesome backdrops for their engagement session. As I was editing these photos,I couldn’t help but smile at every one of these pictures. I’m really happy with the way these turned out, but most of all, I’m happy that I got to know these lovebirds a little better! Melissa and Jason, thank you for sharing a slice of your life with me! I absolutely cannot wait to shoot your wedding next year! I’ve been looking forward to Sandy and Pele’s wedding every since I shot their engagement session way back in the summer. Whenever I think back to their day, I think of one word…fairytale!  Their wedding day was classic and timeless. From the accessories that Sandy chose for herself, to the dress that her and her bridesmaids wore, even down to the beautiful cake at their reception, everything was absolutely amazing. Of course it goes without saying that Sandy and Pele are two of the sweetest people I know. Every time I look over at Sandy and Pele, I catch the two of them giggling away in their own little world. And much like Pele, my heart just melts every time I see Sandy laugh, squints, and crinkle her nose. She’s seriously adorable and loveable.

Sandy and Pele, I am honoured you have chosen me to be your wedding photographer!!
