You know you’ve waited too long to blog a beautiful wedding when the couple is soon to have their first child. *hanging head in shame*. But as I like to say, better late than never. So here it is, the ever so STUNNING Georgia and JC. On their wedding day. Back in the fall. Beautifully designed and coordinated by the oh-so-talented Evelyn Clark from Sweet Stylings.

Hello friends. Sorry for dropping off the face of the earth for a bit there, but I wanted you to all know, I’m alive and well. The truth is, I’ve just been busy living life. December we traveled to Disneyland to meet up with Jeff’s family. Spent a nice quiet Christmas in the ever so lovely Utah. January I was away in Ecuador on a medical mission. I’ve always gone as a nurse, this year I was lucky enough to do both photography and nursing (stay tune for photos!). Just today, I became an aunt again to my new baby nephew who lives in Georgia. Ahhh, life is good.

On this snowy day I’d like to share with you an esession I did back in the fall. Meet Katie and Tyler. I tell you, I love a man that is handy. And handy Tyler was. When Katie and I came up with the “camping” theme, I had no idea really how it will all go down. After all, I’ve only ever gone camping once my whole life (don’t judge. ha!). I showed Katie a photo of a simple tent that I figured would work for the shoot. She replied with…yup, I’ll show Tyler.  Fully expecting them to show up to the shoot with the tent pre-built,  I was surprised when they showed up with a tarp only (not that I would know anything about pitching a tent.)  In a matter of minutes, Tyler built the tent from scratch right in front of my eyes.  I don’t know how he did it, but I was pretty impressed   As for Katie, what more can I say? I mean, look at her?! She is as beautiful and gorgeous as she is lovely.

Katie & Tyler, thank you for opening up to me and for sharing a slice of your life with me.  Sending love to both of you and your families.  Wishing you all nothing but the best.

They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. In this case though, I think the way to Marek’s heart is through his beloved pooch, Guinness  Back in the fall Kristi, Marek, Guinness and I spent a lovely evening gallivanting through Fort Edmonton Park and Edmonton’s river valley. We were blessed with the most amazing light that evening, helping me capture some of my most favourite engagement photos yet.

The thing I love about Kristi and Marek (other than their drop dead gorgeousness obviously), is how genuinely nice and humble they are. Over the Christmas holidays, they sent me a lovely Christmas card over the mail. What touched me the most was that it wasn’t just a simple “Dear Sharon, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Love Kristi, Marek and Guiness” kind of card. It was a card with a few lines of lovely hand written warm wishes. Oh how that made my day.  As with them being humble? Well, part our photo shoot required us to walk uphill. I, of course, being the most unfit person I know, was hyperventilating as I was walking up the hill. Instead of making me feel bad, Kristi casually says…Oh I walk Guinness here every day so I’m use to it! Unbeknownst to me, Kristi apparently runs super marathons. I didn’t even know such a thing exist!

Kristi and Marek, what can I say? In the short time that I’ve known you both, I can truly say you’ve shown me good will power and extreme patience Thank you for being my super star clients! I simply cannot wait till your wedding day!!

To all husbands out there, please take note what I am about to say

When Nathan wrote me back in the summer, he had this amazing idea of setting up a surprise shoot for his wife, Brandi, on their anniversary. He wrote … I would LOVE to surprise my wife with a shoot this summer. We haven’t gotten a couple session done in a couple of years….it was right before out little guy was born. So I know she’d love it, just the two of us. Being the romantic that I am, I was beyond impressed and touched by Nathan’s email. I always find it extra sweet and extra special when married couples continually do cute things for each other.

Being amazing photographers themselves, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t just a teensy bit nervous photographing Brandi and Nathan. They would never admit to this, but they were naturals in front of the camera. Oh yah they were. They were also good sports, doing anything I ask of them. Of course it goes without saying this was one of those sessions where it was impossible to pick just a few favourites. I love them all.

Brandi and Nathan, thank you for giving me a glimpse into your wonderful marriage. And for reminding me to do something nice to my better half today and everyday.

If there was such a place called the “wedding heaven”, I was there on Justine and Chase’s amazing wedding day. So much so my heart was pounding as I was editing these photos. And even now that I am done editing them, I feel butterflies in my stomach every time I look at them. Justine and Chase, you two are BEAUTIFUL. Believe it or not, their wedding was planned in short 5 months. Yes, 5 months. It amazes me how organized they were, not to mention the whole event was overflowed with impeccable style and intricate details.

And that’s not it. During the reception their family and friends surprised them with a flashmob (I know right?!). And just when I thought this wedding couldn’t get any better, it did! Justine and Chase was serenaded by their guest with All you need is love by The Beatles. I have never muttered oh my god, this is the best wedding EVER so many times before. Really, it was unbelievable. Perhaps what is even more amazing than this gorgeous wedding is Justine and Chase themselves. Judging by the love felt in the room and the extent to which their family/friends would go to make them happy, it only goes to show what wonderful people these two are.

Justine and Chase, thank you for inviting me into your lives and entrusting me to capture this important day for you. I am honored beyond words. And thank you so very much for giving me the creative freedom to do what I want and love. You two are my dream come true. I wish you nothing but the best.

Every beautiful wedding starts with a beautiful getting ready. Justine is a girl after my own heart. Accessories galore! Her mama told me she’s been accessorizing since she was a babe.

I am always impressed when people go against the norm and do something that’s true to themselves. Check out Justine’s wedding band, it’s a fidelity wax seal. Different and meaningful.

Justine, I can stare at you all day. You are STUNNING. If I didn’t love you so much, I would be jealous

It’s not everyday you get a couple who gives you the creative freedom to do what you want. But Justine and Chase sure did. We came up with this concept of hanging frames together and it turned out better than I had even expected.

I always get asked if my couples are supermodels. Yes, yes they are.

My favorite set from the wedding. Love the intimacy of the darkness and just enough light for their faces.

I love how Justine switched her cream tie for a black one for a night look. See what I mean? She is THE accessorizing queen! So smart.

Every decor you see in this wedding was handmade by Justine and her family. My favorite though, were their table numbers – old ticket stubs from concerts Justine and Chase have been to.

Check out the flashmob. It was no small production! The Enjoy Center provided such an intimate ambience for this wedding.

Justine and Chase, what can I say? I wish I can go back in time and be at your wedding again! Thank you for being who you are, and I hope these photos will help bring back archived memories for you!

Susan and Benny, what can I say?! I love you. Thank you for entrusting me to capture your amazing day! Your passion in life inspires me to not only become a better photographer, but also inspires me to become a better person.   

Hala and Sean are the kind of couple that makes me love doing what I do. To begin with, they are one of the sweetest, most loving couple I’ve ever met. I’m sure everyone who knows them would know what I mean.  The immense amount of respect and appreciation they have for each other, for their families and friends, and for all those around them was truly inspiring to watch.

When I think back to Hala and Sean’s day, many things come to mind. I think of Hala’s Dad’s speech. He spoke about how proud he is of his first born, he spoke about his first impression of Sean, but then quickly followed up with how much he trusts Hala as she always make the right decisions I think of Sean’s thank you speech to his Mom. Thinking about it now some 3 months later still gets me a little choked up.  I think of Hala’s sisters, Deema and Jenna, and how close they all are with each other. These girls were funny, witty, not to mention drop dead gorgeous. Really made me wish I had sisters of my own!

Hala & Sean, I want to take this opportunity to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for giving me the chance to do what I love to do.

Nothing sets the tone of the day better than a beautiful bridal prep. I love ohh-ing and ah-ing over all the pretty details and accessories.

Um Hala, you are crazy gorgeous!!

Hala & Sean opted for a first look before the ceremony. I always find these to be so intimate and sweet.

The girls were simply gorgeous. I love Hala’s choice of the bridesmaid dresses. They popped in every single picture. Loovvve it!

The boys didn’t disappoint either!

Yet another beautiful decor and design by Jennifer Bergman Wedding. Hala and Sean’s decor were clean, fresh, with loads of class.

Branka and Serge’s wedding was one that I’ve been waiting to shoot all summer! Yes, they are amazingly hot, there’s no denying that. But that wasn’t why. When I think back to meeting Branka & Serge the first time, I would have never thought that today, Branka and I, would be on a texting basis.  From the get go, her and I bonded over our immigrant ways. And by the time her wedding rolled around, it really just felt like shooting an old friend’s wedding. Their day was an emotional one for me. Especially every time I looked over at Branka’s Mom or her Maid of Honor, neither of them sported dry eyes the entire day. Even as I was editing, I was feeling the emotions from their wedding all over again.

Branka and Serge, thank you for showing me what it is like to work hard, laugh lots, love deeply, and cherish those most dearest around you. You both have been nothing but delightful to be around. But more importantly, thank you for giving me this wonderful opportunity to be a part of your amazing day!

Of course, a special thank you also to the uber talented Anita Gill for makeup and Sunita Sumaru for hair.  Amazing work as per usual ladies!

“Life is about the relationships we have. If I were to die tomorrow, I would die as a happy man. Because I have you, my wonderful family and friends. Because I have this amazing, gorgeous woman standing beside me to spend the rest of my life with.” Yes, 5th wedding in, I finally broke down and cried during Ray’s thank you speech.

In the short time that I have known Christine and Ray (10 months to be exact), I have felt nothing but warmth and welcomed whenever I am around them. Without fail they always ask me about my nursing and photography. Without fail they always ask me about my family, they always ask me about my step-son, Shea (which very few people do). Without fail they always welcome me into their home. It seems simple you may say, but it’s through these little small gestures they show they care. It’s nice to be around Christine and Ray, they’re honest, real, and march to the beat of their own drum.

It’s amazing where life can take us sometimes. I’m so glad mine has brought me to these two. Christine and Ray, thank you again for everything.

Possibly one of my favorite garter photo I have taken. And check out their center pieces, Christine and Ray made it themselves. Yes, they chopped wood, smoothed it, dried it, the whole sch-bang. Unbelievable.

Shooting the bride getting ready has always been one of my favourite part of a wedding! Jay totally spoiled me with her Jimmy Choo’s, Coach clutch, and her ornate earrings. Not to mention, Jay’s stunning gown and the bridesmaid’s dress. The whole thing was just sheer perfection!

Jay & Joe opted to have their wedding ceremony and reception at Lux Steakhouse and Bar. I love it when a couple does something a little different and stay true to their own style. The venue provided such an intimate ambience. And when you have Jennifer Bergman Weddings design your event, let me tell you, one will not be disappointed. Check out the gorgeousness!

Having never witness the Dueling Pianists before, I was AMAZED and completely BLOWN away by their talent. One of Jay & Joe’s wishes for their wedding was to provide an awesome party for their family and friends, and that they did!!
